Blogging is one of my way of practicing my writing skills. And, it’s been a while since I write leisurely. I still write like everyday for work. But, when I write for work, it always feels so draining. Not complaining, I love my job, it pays the bills. And however, draining it can get, I’m still grateful, that I get to sharpen the skill, right?
Anyway, as I may have shared before (or not), it has always been my secret dream to be a published writer. Now that I’m a mom, it would be a dream come true to have a published children’s book.
So back, when this enhanced community quarantine is starting off. When it feels like this would just be over soon, and I had an extra time spent at home instead of being stuck in the traffic; I was able to write a short story for a children’s book, entitled: “Staying at Home”.
Staying at home
I love staying at home.
There are so many things we can do at home.
In the morning, I exercise with my mom and dad.
Then we eat breakfast together. I had milk, toasts and banana.
Once we’re full, we help each other clean up the table.
Before play time, I made sure that our plants also got their daily nourishment – I water them.
Then, off I play!
I play with my toys outside; swing is my favorite thing to do.
Then, I play silently with my puzzle
When I’m done, I ask my mom or dad if they can join me to play with my blocks.
It was only morning, but boy I’m having a great time.
Just a few minutes before noon time, our house is filled with aroma that would make anyone hungry.
I had one scoop, two scoops, three scoops, four scoops and five scoops of this lovely home cooked meal prepared by my mom.
My mouth, tummy and heart are very happy.
Once we’re full we help each other again to clean up the table.
Oh, it feels like my lunch made me sleepy.
I started packing away my toys, from the backyard down to my room.
I feel exhausted and sleep, so I decided to take a nap. Nap, and nap away.
I was awakened by the smell of porridge coming out of our kitchen.
So, I jumped out of the bed and went straight to get me a bowl.
While eating my snack, I decided to also read this book I got the other day.
Then, I see my mom on the other side of the table doing the same.
My dad on his table working silently.
It was a peaceful afternoon, and everyone is doing their own thing, just being with each other.
This is my home. This is where I belong. A place I will come back to during my happy and not-so-happy days.
A place of comfort and peace. My home is my family.
I have so many plans on how the images per line would look like. Unfortunately, translating these ideas to illustrations is not one of my talents. But I know one day, I can turn this book into something any kid would love to be reading everyday. Maybe, you know someone who can turn this momma’s dream into reality?
Let me know what you think, I’m open to your suggestions. Just try to be gentle. 😀
Love,
